Sree Prasannanjaneya Swamy Devastanam stands one among the powerful hanuman temples established in 15th century of ‘rayala’ dynasty. This hanuman temple is located in a village named kondapuram which is situated 8km from gorantla mandal of Anantapur district, Andhra Pradesh, India. After the death of the great Sri Krishnadevaraya, this temple was partly devastated and was left unnoticed by the people.
Later It was in 1984, Sri Karanam Vivekananda murthy of the same village refurbished the temple and started the regular pujas and offerings to the lord God Hanuman. But as there was no financial assistance, only the ‘vara pujas’ were being performed since 25 years.
This is not only an ancient temple but is also considered to be the one with legendary powers. The ‘pratyekatha’ of this temple is that the lord God Hanuman of this ‘devasthanam’ faces the west which is said to be very rare and powerful. It is believed that childless parents who served god for mandalam (40 days) here will be freed from bad elements and will be blessed with ‘santhaanam’(children). Many devotees in distress who have approached the lord for blessings have experienced the power of the temple.
This ancient temple of Lord Hanuman was built in 15th century during Vijaya Raghava Rayalu’s dynasty, and later as most of the temples in India, this was also faced the wrath of the Muslim invaders.
This temple was left in dark for so many centuries and the deity was not even offered daily ’Harathi’. The strong belief existing in Hindu hearts that God gets his wishes fulfilled through human beings; was proved once again and the asthikatwa of the people like Karanam Vivekananda Murthy could cross all the hurdles and renovated the Temple in the year 1984.
The temple was restored from dilapidated condition and the deity was being offered with the regular pooja’s from 10th February, 1984(according to Hindu calendar Magha Sudda Dasami). The temple was recognized by the people nearby and regular seva’s were being offered to the presiding deity.
